Mount Valley Public School ("MVPS", "we", "us") operates the MVPS mobile application (the "App"), a school-management platform used by our administrators, teachers and parents. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Who can use the App

The App is intended for the staff and registered parents of Mount Valley Public School. Accounts and login credentials are issued by the school; you cannot self-register.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: name, username, email address, phone number and role (administrator, teacher or parent).
• School records: student profiles, attendance, exam results, fees and invoices, homework, diary entries, announcements and related academic information that you or the school enter.
• Photos and files: images and documents you choose to upload (for example, profile pictures or attachments).
• Location: when the school-bus tracking feature is in use, the bus driver's device shares its live location so parents can track the bus. The App does not track a parent's or student's personal location in the background.
• Device information: a push-notification token (via Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver notifications, plus basic technical data needed to operate the App securely.

3. How we use information

We use this information only to provide and operate the school-management service: managing enrollment and academics, recording attendance, handling fees, sharing announcements and circulars, enabling homework and messaging, tracking school transport, and sending push notifications. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How information is shared

Information is shared within your school community according to your role — for example, a parent sees their own child's records, a teacher sees their classes, and an administrator manages the school. We use trusted service providers to run the App, including cloud hosting and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications; these providers process data only to provide their services to us. We may disclose information where required by law.

5. Data security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and access is restricted by role-based authentication. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Children's data

The App processes information about students, including minors, on behalf of the school for legitimate educational purposes. This data is entered and managed by the school's authorized staff and the students' parents. If you believe a child's information has been provided without proper authorization, please contact us.

7. Permissions

• Camera & Photos: used only when you choose to take or upload a picture or attachment.
• Location: used only by the bus-tracking feature, as described above.
• Notifications: used to deliver school updates.

You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet the school's record-keeping and legal obligations. On request, and subject to those obligations, we will delete personal data we are not required to keep.

9. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us using the details below. Your school administrator can also help with account-related requests.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
